We have a new opportunity for a Test Lab Manager to join our Connectivity and Design team in Winnersh (Reading). This would be an ideal role for a forward thinking and proactive Test Lab Manager to lead our test lab operations with a focus on the continuous improvement of our testing processes, systems, and infrastructure.
The Test Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing the testing and validation of telecoms network systems and services to ensure they meet quality and performance standards. This role involves managing the test lab operations, coordinating with various teams, and ensuring that all testing activities are completed efficiently and effectively. Additionally, the manager will strategically develop the lab infrastructure, automate processes, and deliver business cases to support these initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Implement workflow and change control systems to streamline lab operations.
- Define fault management processes and lead resolution efforts, including SLA and availability targets.
- Manage access controls for both physical spaces and equipment to ensure security and compliance.
- Enforce high-quality standards across lab infrastructure, documentation, and resilience.
- Develop and execute investment strategies to future-proof the lab, including automation initiatives.
- Lead demand forecasting and capacity planning to avoid bottlenecks.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., TSA, ISO) and support audit and security testing.
- Oversee logistics, inventory, and space/power management.
- Supervise staff and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

- Proven leadership and team management skills, with expertise in workflow optimization and agile methodologies
- Experienced in leading technical teams, fostering cross-department collaboration, and aligning operations with strategic objectives.
- Strong foundation in IP networking – covering routing, switching and network security – combined with hands on experience with transmission technologies
- Skilled in network automation and virtual lab environments, with exposure to Network Functions Virtualisation
- Certifications in Cisco (CCNP, CCNA, CCIE etc) or Juniper (JNCIP, JNCIE etc) would be advantageous
