Our application process is super simple and consistent across all schemes, with the key difference being the deadlines - so be sure to keep track of the date for the scheme you're interested in.
We don’t ask for CVs, as part of our commitment to inclusive hiring. Instead, we focus on your potential, assessing your strengths, values, and motivations. From day one, you’ll be joining us on a permanent contract, so you can focus on growing your career with us from the start.
Each step of the process is designed to help us get to know you better and for you to learn more about us, ensuring we’re a great match. We’ll keep you in the loop with feedback and updates, so you’ll always know how you’re progressing and when you can expect to hear more.
At Virgin Media O2 we are committed to leveraging advanced technologies to enhance our recruitment process. However, we do not use Generative AI, or AI models trained on external datasets, to score or make decisions about candidates. Our goal is to use technology responsibly and transparently. We encourage all applicants to take the same approach and use tools like AI responsibly – we still want to see your originality and authenticity!

What qualifications can I gain? . expand section button
One of the great things about apprenticeships is that you spend six hours each week studying towards a nationally recognised qualification. These can include:
• GCSE qualifications in English, Maths and IT
• National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) from level 2 (similar to five GCSEs) up to level 5 (similar to a postgraduate degree)
• Technical qualifications including BTECs or City and Guild Progression Awards
• Academic qualifications including a Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND) foundation degree or the equivalent of a full bachelor’s degree
What are the different levels of apprenticeship? . expand section button
There are four:
• Intermediate apprenticeships (Level 2) are equivalent to five good GCSE passes
• Advanced apprenticeships (Level 3) are equivalent to two A-level passes
• Higher apprenticeships (Level 4 or 5) are equivalent to the first stages of a degree (known as a foundation degree)
• Degree apprenticeships (Level 6 or 7) give you a qualification similar to a bachelor’s or master’s degree

• An Apprenticeship Development Coach, who’ll help you keep on track with your academic learning
• The Future Careers team, who are there to make sure you get the best overall experience possible
• The Future Careers community of graduates, interns, and other apprentices like you, who’ll have socials, development courses, podcasts, speaker events, and plenty of other projects for you to learn from and get involved in

What can be learnt onan apprenticeship?
More than you could know. Six hours each week will be spent studying towards an apprenticeship qualification. These hours are paid and form part of the working day, so there’s no stress trying to fit study around work.
For the rest of the week, our apprentices work within a real-life team, learning skills and expanding their knowledge. Each scheme is built around a structured development programme that makes sure apprentices walk away with a solid mix of specialist and transferable skills.
-
What happens at the end of the apprenticeship?
All our apprenticeships lead to permanent roles on completion of the scheme. Many of our apprentices stay within the team and role they’ve been training in. Others take the opportunity to branch out into a different area of our business. We work with every apprentice to get them where they want to be.
-
Does doing an apprenticeship affect your earning potential?
Definitely not. Our salaries vary by level, so depending on the scheme, our apprentices can expect a starting salary between £22,500 and £30,000. And there are opportunities to progress throughout. They won’t have to put a penny towards tuition, either – we cover it all.
-
What is the application process?
Tests. Interviews. Assessment centres. It might sound scary – but our process is designed to bring out the best in people, not put them under pressure. We keep in touch so candidates feel supported and able to show off their strengths. We have advisors on hand every day. And we can organise web chats to answer any questions you might have.
