This role sits within Technology & Platforms which is responsible for defining and maintaining the strategy and roadmap for all core technology platforms. This includes platform vision, prioritisation, and planning; financial management and investment; platform architecture design and assurance; and the definition and implementation of platform architecture standards. The function ensures platforms are robust, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with the overall business strategy, adapting to evolving needs and driving innovation.
Technology & Platforms is split into Digital Workplace, BSS & Fixed B2B2C Wholesale, Core Engineering, Platform Engineering and Platform Innovation.
This role sits with the Core Engineering division. This division is accountable for Providing oversight to core engineering platforms & their services, ensuring continual improvement.
Oversees and assures the design, build and maintenance of technology used:
- by agents to interact with VMO2 customers and manage sales and service operations, including voice and chat capabilities
- for apps, digital identity management (ID) and subscription video on demand (SVOD).
- to manage customer communications and consent to process customer personal data.
- the design, build and maintenance of microservices architecture, middleware and application programming interface (API) gateways, to allow software applications to communicate to each other.
- testing across Tech & Platforms.
The Platform Lead is responsible for the end-to-end strategy, delivery, and lifecycle management of one type of platform, as part of the broader remit of the Platform Owner. The Platform Lead acts as the primary custodian of their platform(s), ensuring they are fit-for-purpose, cost-effective, compliant, and scalable to meet evolving product, domain, and technical requirements.

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience:
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Power Automate (Cloud & Desktop) and the wider Power Platform, including designing scalable enterprise‑grade automation solutions.
- Strong background in automation architecture, including Dataverse modelling and integration across Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365, and third‑party APIs (REST/SOAP, SQL Server, custom connectors).
- Solid technical understanding of Microservices Architecture (MSA), middleware, API gateways, and designing secure, scalable, reliable integration patterns.
- Proven technical leadership, guiding engineering teams across delivery, assuring solution designs, builds, estimates, and resolving complex technical blockers.
- Expertise in platform governance, security roles, and ALM/CI/CD using tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Ability to work closely with business and technology teams, translating complex requirements into high‑quality technical solutions and shaping platform capability adoption.
- Strong commercial acumen including TCO modelling and demonstrable experience managing vendors and technology partners.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, analytical and problem‑solving skills, enabling clear technical direction and effective decision‑making.
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, AI Builder, and integrating machine learning or NLP capabilities into automation workflows.
- Knowledge of UiPath, Blue Prism, or other enterprise automation suites supporting a hyper‑automation strategy.
- Experience using Power BI to build dashboards measuring automation adoption, performance, and ROI.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as PL‑400 or PL‑600.
- Experience working in telco environments, collaborating across data, technology, and operational estates.
- Knowledge of broader intelligent automation technologies and emerging trends in AI‑driven automation.
