We have an outstanding new opportunity for a dynamic leader to join our wholesale engineering team within our IT department as Head of Fibre & Wholesale Engineering.
In this senior role, you will lead and oversee the strategy, operations, and performance of Virgin Media O2's platforms department. You’ll be responsible for leading platform architecture, development, and maintenance, ensuring everything aligns with our company’s strategic goals. Your leadership will be key in scaling platform capabilities to support growth while maintaining security, stability, and compliance.
You will run a high-performing team of platform architects, technical consultants, developers, and managed services, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. You’ll promote team development through mentorship and coaching, ensuring the department is well-resourced and motivated to achieve its goals.
As a strategic leader, you will define and drive the long-term vision for platform growth and scalability, oversee platform design and optimisation for robustness and reliability, and make critical decisions on technologies and methodologies to support our business objectives. Working closely with executives and stakeholders, you will ensure smooth operations and continuous innovation.

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;
- Previous demonstrable experience in a similar leadership role, with a proven track record of leading, mentoring, and managing multi-functional teams, including platform engineers, developers, and operations staff, as well as the ability to define and implement long-term strategies for platform development, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Proven experience in platform management or technical leadership, with a solid background in cloud platform architecture, systems integration, cloud technologies, and enterprise systems, ideally across software development, maintenance, and support
- Strong problem-solving ability, with experience in leading sophisticated platform issues and risks while delivering solutions that effectively meet both business and technical requirements.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology solutions to broader company goals and evolving business needs.
- Deep knowledge of platform security standard processes, industry regulations, and compliance requirements, ensuring robust and compliant system operations.
We'd also love you to bring;
- PMP, ITIL, TOGAF, or equivalent certifications in platform or project management.
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks and methodologies for software and platform development.
- Knowledge of modern software development practices and methodologies.
