The Data Scientist / Smart Meter Triage Analyst role is a critical technical role with significant internal and external stakeholders and responsibilities. The role is mainly responsible for Operations and Maintenance and driving continuous service improvements for our customers

This is an excellent opportunity for anybody who would like to expand their knowledge in big data analytics, networking protocols, and embedded devices and broaden their insight of the M2M/IoT and Smart Energy worlds as an experience both from the telecom operator and from the utility industries will be gained. In this role, you will triage Incidents, on devices, the Smart metering process, and network-related requests from the customer.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Passionate about data analytics and the value that can be created through information exploitation.
  • Engineering background (preferably Computer Science/Telecoms).
  • Database SQL query writing.
  • Power BI.
  • Programming in scripting language – preferably Python, Basic usage of Unix commands. Concept of OSI model. GIT Bash.
  • Maintain a high-quality standard keeping a customer focused at all times whilst working under pressure with tight deadlines, dealing with evolving or changing targets, and safeguarding the operational stability of the network.
  • Prioritize the customer – engage customers by boosting an end-to-end digital experience and using data-driven insights.
  • Embrace Diversity – champion diversity and inclusion where people feel valued and supported to maximize their full potential.
  • Keep growing and learning – foster a growth mindset through day-to-day development opportunities and honest feedback.

The other stuff we are looking for
  • Proven Smart Metering experience is desirable.
  • In-Depth Understanding of 2G GSM and 3G UMTS architecture
  • Hands-on experience in protocol-level investigation like RANAP, BSSAP, etc
  • knowledge of 2G/3G call flows, signalling between nodes and interfaces of RAN and core
  • Knowledge of short-range protocols and application profiles -preferably Zigbee
  • Knowledge in GB smart metering protocols (GBCS, DLMS, SMETS2, DUIS, CHTS, DMM etc)
  • Hands-on experience of Wireshark or equivalent packet analyzer. Understanding of synchronous and asynchronous request
  • Investigate complex and escalated performance-related issues and support the wider SMIP and network teams through unique detailed acquired knowledge of the SMIP end-to-end network architecture
