This role will predominantly involve home working, with a couple of visits per week to our lab in Winnersh.  We are firm believers in flexible working however and you'll have the freedom to work hours that suit you!

As a Principal Systems Engineer you'll be a key member of the Core Systems Engineering team; responsible for production deployment design, configuration specifications, performance improvements, lifecycle management and standards documentation. In this role you'll effectively manage Core Systems Engineering projects to deliver high quality services and creative solutions!

You'll be responsible for end to end Core Systems Life Cycle Management, providing detailed configuration specifications and creating and maintaining standards documentation. You'll engage across multiple functions, both business and technical, to ensure services consistently match needs and expectations, whilst ensuring accurate delivery progress reporting is completed and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Significant experience and knowledge of relevant technologies and systems, including Unix, DNS, DHCP and automation
  • An understanding and experience of systems administration
  • Experience of analysing, assessing and resolving complex technology requirements, problems and issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to form strong business relationships across multiple locations
  • Previous engineering experience gained within a large commercial environment
The other stuff we are looking for
  • Proven ability to manage high value and complex vendor relationships in a cable / telecommunications environment
