We have a fantastic opportunity for a commercial lawyer to join the TV and Entertainment legal team at Virgin Media O2. This is an exceptionally exciting time to join the business. Virgin Media O2 is a 50:50 joint venture between Liberty Global and Telefonica SA that launched on 1 June 2021, and we are one of the UK’s largest businesses.

This opportunity is a key role within a friendly legal team working on a range of programming, channels, apps, and digital entertainment content matters. There are also opportunities to work across a broad range of commercial contracts from across the business. The role will report into the Head of Legal, TV & Entertainment.

We are looking for someone with great commercial contracts experience, with an appetite and passion to work on multiple matters and projects across TV and Entertainment.

Our legal team is pro-active and commercially focused. We are looking for someone that can provide accurate, effective, and timely legal advice and support on the delivery of a range of commercial contracts and matters including:

  • TV channel carriage agreements (including FAST channels);
  • VOD / EST content acquisition;
  • App development and distribution agreements;
  • Content partnerships and product launches;
  • Advertising partnerships;

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Proactive management of matters, efficient and effective planning and an ability to meet competing demands.
  • A qualified lawyer with experience of commercial contracts.
  • Excellent drafting skills, strong commercial contracts experience gained in-house or in private practice.
  • Be diplomatic and highly articulate and have excellent written and oral communication skills, including being able to analyse and summarise complex legal and commercial issues.
  • Have strong commercial acumen. Ability to think and act quickly on your feet and remain focused under pressure.

The other stuff we are looking for

We'd also love you to bring;

  • Ability to adapt to change and comfortable working in a complex, fast changing environment.
  • Experience in television / content acquisition and/or distribution is desirable.
  • Understanding of the regulatory landscape that affects the digital entertainment, programming and TV broadcast space.
  • A pro-active problem solver with a can-do attitude who is willing to find legal and commercial solutions to issues.
  • Be versatile and able to turn your hand effectively to varied commercial contracts from programming deals to advertising deals, to technical agreements.
