The Accounting, Reporting & Control (ARC) team are responsible for ensuring the integrity of the combined reported financial results of Virgin Media O2 (VMO2). The importance of the wider role performed by the team is significant, ensuring accuracy and compliance across the entire reporting & controls requirements of VMO2, while focusing on simplification and optimisation of processes across a continuously evolving organisation.
This role is key ensuring the efficiency, accuracy and integrity of VMO2’s internal and external reporting. It involves reviewing current processes for optimisation and simplification, ensuring adherence to policies, and evaluating the effectiveness of the internal controls within the financial reporting framework.

As the Financial Control Manager, you will be responsible for:
Risk Assessment Programme:
- Delivering updates to risk assessment documentation (RACM, flowcharts, thresholds, control descriptions and report testing),
- Developing and implementing new controls for any control gaps,
- Managing and addressing follow-up queries from internal and external auditors for D&I testing.
Deficiency remediation:
- Assessing open deficiencies and assisting control owners in designing remediation plan
- Leading the implementation of remediation plan
System migration and implementation:
- Supporting systems design and implementation teams to ensure financial reporting processes in the new system are risk assessed.
- Identifying key risks and implementing appropriate mitigating controls
- Collaborating with IT Governance team to ensure timely implementation of ITGCs;
- Leading risk assessment meetings with internal and external auditors.
Streamlining and simplification:
- Managing the simplification and streamlining activities of various areas within the ARC department.
- Assisting with the integration of the accounting function of the two formerly independent companies to create a single, more efficient accounting, reporting and control organisation.
Control Framework Maintenance:
- Assisting the wider team in delivering and implementing change projects.
- Driving meaningful improvements in the documentation of the control framework within AuditBoard.

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience:
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA or CIMA), background in practice preferred but not required
- Technical Knowledge - US GAAP, IFRS, SOx
- Strong project management skills, including experience managing activities across different partners, prioritizing tasks, flagging issues and delivering results.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner, negotiate and influence internal team members at all levels and across business areas.
- An attitude towards problem-solving with a focus on delivering practical solutions
